Photography Research for Imogen Cunningham
Context
IMOGEN CUNNINGHAM
(AMERICAN, 1883 - 1976 )
I have researched information about Imogen Cunningham from the internet:
"Imogen Cunningham occupies a singular position in the history of American art of the twentieth century. For over half the history of photography, she explored- with innovation and a new perspective- all the major traditions associated with the medium as fine art. She has been most widely acclaimed for the photographs made during the 1920s and 1930s, particularly close-up images of plants and nudes. She also made portraits which are now considered classics in photography, including images of Alfred Stieglitz, Spencer Tracy, and Martha Graham. She was a founding member of the West Coast-based Group f.64, which championed an un-manipulated, direct approach with the camera, or “straight” photography. Her photographs are represented in major collections and museums around the world. The Weston Gallery represents the Imogen Cunningham Trust and have vintage, modern as well as posthumous prints available. Please contact us for acquisitions."

Developing my work further by using Photopea
How I developed my photo
Final image
Filters I used to develop my photography
To develop my photography I brought the image into Photopea and then used the adjustment layer on the image tab. I chose the Black & white filter so that I could adjust the contrast. I really like this because in my opinion it brings out the texture of the cabbage.
To enhance my image further, I decided to add a lens flare, this soft light in the left hand corner I think improves the image and creates an interesting shadow.

To develop my photograph I decided to use the adjustment layer in Photopea. I went on the Black & White filter and adjusted the different colour layers until I was happy with the contrast. In my opinion, I think that the contrast I created has brought the texture of the apples. I then added a lens flare to the bottom right hand side of the image to create shadow and interest. By using these filters, I have started to develop my understanding of how to manipulate my images using professional software and I hope to continue to develop my knowledge and skills to enhance my outcomes.

Developing my image by using the Black & White filter and adding a Lens Flare
Final image
This is my first image that I have used in Photopea, to develop my knowledge and skills using this software. I started by using the adjustment filter and then picked the Black & white filter, moving the individual colours so that I got some good contrast in my image. To develop my image further, I decided to add a lens flare, i picked lens 3 as I thought it suited my image.
In my opinion I really like the way I have enhanced my work as i think it brings out the texture of my apple and gives interest to the image .

Developing my ideas further in Photopea
After experimenting with different Photoshop/Photopea filters and adjustments, the outcomes that I really like are when I have created cutout flowers with bright colours and a simple background. The reason I like this is because in my opinion I think it looks very effective. I have decided to continue to develop my ideas around this theme.

Developing my ideas further and refining my outcomes for a final gallery
So far in my project I have been using 2 different pieces of software, Photoshop and Photopea. I have been experimenting/developing/refining my own photographs so that I enhance, appeal/ the final outcomes. The tools I have been using are lens flare, magic cut, selection tool, layers, image/adjustments ............................ and this has helped me to develop my techniques/skills/knowledge. The more I have practiced and looked at tutorials, the better my outcomes have become.
The techniques/tool that I found very effective were .............................. I also tried --------------- but I did not like the outcome so much, although it did help to develop my knowledge of the software.
For my final outcomes I hope/think/plan/determined to refine my final images around the theme of
